Rediscovered Realms committed to celebrate reaching over 3,000 subscribers by rewarding you with monthly badass fantasy giveaways throughout the entire year. For September, I’m mixing it up a bit with a bit of mystery. Read on to find out more.
But before we get into this month’s giveaway let’s find out who won August’s . . .
Who won last month’s “Fantasy Art Card Giveaway: Vallejo, Hildebrandt, Conan, Sanjulián”?
🥁
🥁
🥁
Michael (astro) is now the proud bearer of these amazing fantasy art items!
Congratulations, Michael! I know we’ve got a few Michael’s out there, but you’re the one with an “astro” in your email address.
Speaking of emails, I’ve sent you one, and you have 7 days to claim your artistic prize, or it may go to one of our other Michael’s.
Thank you to everyone who participated. I appreciate you!
Previous Rediscovered Realms Giveaway Contests:
March: Epic Tolkien Giveaway Contest (scroll to the bottom of this article to see the giveaway)
July: Summer Sundry Giveaway: Tankards & Tomes, Castles & Runes
August: Fantasy Art Card Giveaway: Vallejo, Hildebrandt, Conan, Sanjulián
And now for this month’s Mystery Fantasy Giveaway Contest!
Why the mystery, you ask?
Because it’s tied to next week’s newsletter where we are interviewing a very special fantasy artist guest which makes this giveaway a little more apropos.
The giveaway items aren’t anything super fancy or super expensive, but as always, they will be fun, and this time we’ll have multiple winners to spread the joy!
Can you guess who the artist is?
The first 3 people to guess correctly in the comments below will win a special prize.
And here’s how you can enter the contest - even before you know what it is! (full rules1 ):
You must either SUBSCRIBE to Rediscovered Realms Substack (this newsletter) between September 1 - September 30, 2024 11:59 PM PDT
Or, if you are already a subscriber, you just need to COMMENT on or SHARE any Rediscovered Realms newsletter within the month of September 2024. (Any of our 80+ newsletters will count.)

Cool! What about the final giveaway contests of this year?
I’ve been saving up some of the best fantasy merch for last and putting together the remaining giveaway contest bundles for October, November, and December - bringing our celebration (and giveaways) to an end.
But don’t be sad just yet, because here’s a peek behind the scenes of what I’ve got in store for you:
October: The changing of seasons - Autumn for us in the northern hemisphere where liminal fantasy fun can be had. For any “The Witcher” fans, you are going to LOVE the bundle I put together.
November: The pace of regular life should start slowing down a bit - this is a time for the games and activities we’ve been missing out on the rest of the year. Old school gamebooks (Lone Wolf, Fighting Fantasy, Endless Quest) and a variety of other fun fantasy activity books, games, and one particularly epic fantasy board game will get your imagination and creativity going!
December: Settling in for winter, here comes The Biggest giveaway contest of the year, containing premium Tolkien and LOTR books & merch, D&D merch, fantasy calendars for the coming year, Narnia, Forgotten Realms and more!
Stay tuned to your email & future editions for the full reveal soon.
You are not only brave, but a Generous Adventurer whose love of Discovery, Imagination & Fun transcends our mere mortal coils . . .
. . . and for that, I thank you!

Other News from The Realms
In medieval news, here’s a fun cheeky article by Vice you may enjoy, “The Rival Cliques You’ll Find at Every Medieval Renaissance Fair”
“Why would a fair maiden ever talk to an actual peasant? Here’s our guide to the social hierarchy of ren fairs the world over.”
How true & accurate did you find these archetypes? Make sure to comment below (unless you’re one of “The Royals”, who will then have someone else comment for them instead …)
From medievalists.net, here are 5 short medieval battle speeches you can adapt for your own family & friend Braveheart reenactments: “Medieval Battle Speeches: Words That Shaped History”
I think some of these could be useful to recite in the office, in front of everyone at the next big corporate meeting. Where else do you think they could make sense?
Look out Morganna le Fay! Seems like Merlin’s burial site may have been found. From ancient-origins.net: “Archaeological Finds Support Local Folklore of Merlin’s Grave”
After re-watching Excalibur not too long ago, it has re-ingrained 2 metallic images in my mind every time I hear the name, “Merlin”:
One of those images somehow holds way more magical sway on me than the other. How about you?
I wasn’t aware of the trend of “Dice Shaming” but have to say it’s right up my humor alley! From cheezburger.com, here’s 24 pretty darn funny ones: “Dungeons and Dragons Players Publicly Shame the Dice That Got Them in Trouble”
I bet you all have some fun dice shaming stories to share - make sure to leave them in the comments!
And finally, this week, here are 3 impressive sales on Conan merch over at Amazon2:
(As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases)Blu-ray DVD: “Conan: The Complete Quest (Conan the Barbarian / Conan the Destroyer)” is currently 45% off. If you ever wanted both films (yes, I know how much better Barbarian is than Destroyer!), you can pick them up for a really low price.
Book: “Conan the Barbarian: The official Story of the Film” - This official retrospective includes interviews with the cast & crew as well as behind-the-scenes photos. At the time of this writing, it is 40% off. (I have a copy of this and the trivia, photos and unused marketing artwork it depicts are so cool!)
Graphic Novel Box Set: ABLAZE currently has their uncensored “The Cimmerian Vols 1-4 Box Set” (which includes Robert E. Howard’s original stories at the end of each book) on sale for 38% off.
Until next week, thanks for being a Rediscovered Realms Reader. Those are some of my most favorite kinds of readers.

I think the artist on that one is Lee McLeod(sp) though does look a little like Vallejo like Bill said. Interesting headline about Merlin's burial site possibly being found. Connects well with all of the unusual sword stories we've had this year.
It looks a bit like Vallejo to me but not certain however it is very beautiful and done very well
