Inside The Complete Elmore
A Visual Journey Through Larry Elmore’s Legendary Fantasy Worlds
The Complete Elmore is a massive, deluxe artbook from 2013 collecting decades of Larry Elmore’s full-color fantasy illustrations — from classic TSR and Dragonlance imagery to personal paintings, unpublished works, and behind-the-scenes stories. Originally funded through Kickstarter, the book quickly became a collector’s treasure, now commanding high prices due to its limited print run.
What follows is a selection of some my favorite pages (there are soooo many more!) — chosen for their beauty, their drama, and the fascinating anecdotes Larry shares about how these iconic images came to life.
I wish my camera could do these vibrant pieces justice (which it does not), but I hope you find them a visual feast nonetheless.
When you’re done wandering these painted realms, scroll onward — the final pages of this edition reveal the winners of our latest Rediscovered Realms giveaways…
^ Dragonlance, Raistlin’s origins, and male strippers - fascinating stuff!
Other Larry Elmore encrusted Rediscovered Realms editions:
From Dragonlance dragon-filled skies to forgotten fantasy worlds, Larry Elmore’s art has always felt like a doorway — a painted invitation into adventure itself. Whether you first met his work on a TSR game box, module cover, Dragon magazine, a paperback novel, or right here today, these images still carry the same spark of wonder that first ignited so many imaginations.
Until our next journey, keep your eyes open for powerful art(ifacts) and your heart ready for rediscovery, Bold Adventurer.

Haha...I may or may not have been one of the ~14 year old boys Larry says "fell in love" with Silvara thanks to that painting in the calendar. : P
What a gorgeus visual feast! Elmore's art really is that doorway you mentioned, those vibrant colors have this warm, inviting quality that pulls you right into those worlds. Its fascinating how his work became the defintive look of fantasy for an entire generation, kinda like how a scent or sound can instantly transport you back to a specific time and place in your childhood.
