This Week’s Rediscovered Realms Theme Song:
When the mists part and the first rays of sunlight strike the ruins, the world remembers what it once was. “Rise of the Forgotten Age” carries the spirit of rediscovery — a majestic tribute to lost civilizations, ancient wisdom, and the eternal pull of wonder. Reminders that even after ages of darkness, beauty and meaning can rise again.

What if I told you that the newfangled phrase “six-seven” that all the kids are saying these days is actually a medieval creation from the 1300s? Perhaps you’ll believe me when you check out “10 Medieval Phrases That Deserve A Comeback” from medievalists.net
Can you name the 2 towers of J.R.R. Tolkien’s eponymous title of his Lord of the Rings books? If so, you may want to check out this article, “Sorry, Guys, but The Two Towers in The Lord of the Rings Aren’t the Ones You Think”
You and I have always known that D&D is more than just a game, but now science is finally catching up. Sociologists defined a concept called “Serious Leisure” - a hobby that demands skill, commitment and personal fulfillment. It comes with all sorts of benefits (which sounds a lot like “Play” to me). Check out: “Dungeons & Dragons is more than a game, leisure expert says”
“To understand what makes D&D more than just a pastime, Messina, an associate professor and program director for FIU’s Rehabilitation and Recreational Therapy Program, studies how games like this promote identity-building and connection. Inspired by a scene in “Stranger Things” (season four, episode one), Messina set out to learn more about how D&D relates to the concept of serious leisure.”
This upcoming indie dungeoncrawling CRPG, inspired by the Old School Renaissance, “The Secret of Weepstone” is a nostalgic tribute to classic D&D, and the artwork looks AMAZING!!!
Oh, and have you heard that the original Hobbit companions from the Shire are on an 11-city reunion tour across North America in 2026? “An Evening With the Hobbits: In Celebration of 25 Years” brings fans face-to-face with these brave heroes!
I’ve noticed that a lot of fantasy movie listicles include many that are really off the mark. Not so with this one. Test your fantasy watching CV with “You Probably Haven’t Seen These 10 Fantasy Movies From the ‘80s — You Should”
(I’ve seen them all except for #3 - not sure how I missed that one!)
And finally, have you ever wondered how many official D&D novels were made? Check out Echohawk’s well-researched (and illustrated) recent edition in the series: “How Much D&D Stuff Is There Anyway?”
And that’s another Phantasy Snitch edition, Adventurer! Until next week, keep your blade sharp and your wits keen . . . or if you prefer, your blade keen and your wits sharp.
