First, just a fun Lord of The Rings meme I couldn’t resist sharing!
Read 2 short reviews of J.R.R. Tolkien’s masterpieces from back in the day. Specifically, a review of The Fellowship of The Ring from 1954 and a review of The Hobbit from 1937!
Keeping the LOTR theme going, I just saw this yesterday and had to order it. Funko Pop! Bitty Town: Lord of The Rings - Frodo Baggins and The Shire.
This is being released on October 4th - I was surprised at how low Funko is pricing it at. You can pre-order on Amazon1 here → https://amzn.to/4cBlNX5

Along with The Shire, Funko is also pre-releasing “Bitty Towns” and “Bitty Rides” for Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Nightmare Before Christmas!
If you want a full-size version instead of the Bitty (and swap out Frodo for Bilbo) then check out Funko Pop! Town: The Lord of The Rings - Bilbo Baggins with Bag-End!
This one is shipping on October 2nd and had a healthy sale price at the time of this writing. You can pre-order on Amazon here → https://amzn.to/3MfpQ0u

In case you missed it from a previous newsletter (and want to populate your new bitty Shire!), Funko had already released several sets of Bitty Pop! Lord of The Rings Mini collectibles. They’re so cute! (and at the time of this writing also have a nice savings if you buy any 2.)
Samwise Gamgee, Pippin Took, Merry Brandybuck & Mystery Chase Figure. You can order on Amazon here → https://amzn.to/3Xe0VRj

Did you hear about the Medieval Sword with mysterious inscription, ‘UVLFBERTH’, unearthed after laying 1,000 years at the bottom of a Polish river? (Now you have.)
For fellow fantasy creators out there, I found this article from The Times interview about J.K. Rowling’s writing process a brilliant read. Lots of gems inside.
Artist Transforms Discarded Books Headed for the Landfill Into Enchanting Portals
“While these worlds inspired by folklore and fairytales are alluring escapes from reality, Ouzman notes that art is ‘like a mirror—it either reflects what we already feel, or the feelings we try hard to avoid. Art extends a hand to your heart, an embrace for your soul, and sometimes adds salt to the most tender cuts.’”
Beyond reading the insightful article from My Modern Met, you can see Isobelle Ouzman’s beautiful portfolio of portaled put-out-to-pasture publications here: https://isobelleouzman.com/portfolio
Expect More ‘Stranger Things’ References in ‘Dungeons & Dragons’
D&D is collaborating with Stranger Things for tie-in adventures to celebrate both the game’s 50th year and the show’s final season (Season 5 in 2025)
How would you like to make your own D&D candy? Dungeon Treats: The Ultimate D&D Candy Kit is live on Kickstarter where you can concoct Arcane D20 Delights, Magical Dragon Eggs, Legendary Dice Treats, Halfling Coins, and more!
What happens when you mix Choose-Your-Own-Adventure type gamebook cartridges with Audio and Sound Effects AND a portable device? You get Audio Adventures - an electronic story adventure system kicking butt on Kickstarter!
I personally can’t wait to see what 3rd party stories come out for this.
Released less than 24 hours ago (when I was writing this) and already with almost 5 million views, here’s the trailer you’ve been waiting for: “The Lord of The Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” Coming this December.
New: “The Hobbit Encyclopedia” is shipping on September 3rd!
“This wide-ranging encyclopedia covers all the characters, places, and objects included in the seminal book that first introduced the world of Middle-earth, highlighting the legendary sources from which Tolkien took inspiration.”

I wish substack allowed us to post photos. I'd like to show off those Lone Wolf books in their new home of my classroom shelves. Building a D&D paraphernalia corner once a couple local shops make their classroom donations 🤟, so they'll fit in nicely.
I really like the variety here. I am always searching for different books. Honestly, did not know The Wheel of Time was a book/s. I just knew it was a show I enjoyed. I always prefer reading to watching, so I imagine I will really like the books.
