Rediscovered Realms is catching you up on some of the coolest fantasy news that just won’t fit in our regular weekly edition. Welcome to the August issue! Enjoy a curated lite dose of worthy Fantasy-related news, products, and rumours from the RPG, fantasy book, movie, D&D, LOTR, mythology, board game, art & archaeology genres.
I wish substack allowed us to post photos. I'd like to show off those Lone Wolf books in their new home of my classroom shelves. Building a D&D paraphernalia corner once a couple local shops make their classroom donations 🤟, so they'll fit in nicely.
Dude - that's amazing! I love that you're spreading the love of these old fantasy magical items to new generations. Make sure to email me the pics . . . in fact, now that I noodle on this, there may be a special feature about you in the near future . . .
Will do! I'm waiting to hear back from our school district's financial administration on best practices for tax receipts for one of the shops, I'll then receive their awesome donations, get the D&D corner finalized, and send you some pics.
I really like the variety here. I am always searching for different books. Honestly, did not know The Wheel of Time was a book/s. I just knew it was a show I enjoyed. I always prefer reading to watching, so I imagine I will really like the books.
Thanks Leigh Ann! Hope you enjoy the WoT books when you get to reading them. It's always fun for me to discover the innumerable amazing different fantasy creations that are out there by so many talented creators. I appreciate you letting me share some of that fun with you!
Thanks Carolyn, I'm glad you liked it! I appreciate the feedback. (And I think LOTR-bias is probably one of the best biases to have. Of course, there's also Chocolate-bias, Pizza-bias, oh, and Cheesecake-bias . . . well, you can probably tell I haven't eaten breakfast yet. And yes, I have at some points in my life eaten any and all of those items as part of a delicious breakfast!) 🍰🍕🍫
Probably because The Hobbit and LOTR have been around my whole life (and my parent's life for that matter) an original review is fascinating. What did people think about this fantastic world with hobbbits living under hills, goblins in mountains and Dragons when it was first published?
I'm with you on that, Croaker. It's so fascinating to peel back the layers of time & culture to see how people absorbed this new form of fandangled fantasy stuff - is it for kids? Is it for adults? To think that The Hobbit was released in a much more serious & regimented era than our own, during the Great Depression and right before World War II to boot - and The Fellowship of The Ring wasn't too far after it, for me adds so much contextual texture and weight to these beloved stories. They really have become an important part of our human legacy.
Now with this sword found and the one missing from its stone, from last month I think, we've got the start of a modern fantasy story around magical swords as macguffins.

I think this may be your best issue ever! And I'm not just saying that because it's LOTR heavy! (Okay, maybe I'm a little biased...)
Seriously, I LOVE the Phantasy Snitch!

All of those have some diary - so doesn't that make them almost healthy?
lol - of course! 🐮
