It was really sad news to hear of the passing of Bernard Hill. Obviously he had been on my mind recently for that article but also because he was starring in The Responder a new TV series with Martin Freeman which had just came out
I saw him for the first time in Boys from the Blackstuff where he played Yosser Hughes, an unemployed labourer desperate for work. It was such an emotionally powerful performance that it stayed with me for years. So to see him play Theoden and bring a different kind of emotional loss and grief to that role was a rare gift. He was a great actor and is sorely missed
I was talking with my brother yesterday about him and was surprised to find out how many different roles his career spanned without really putting together that it was the same actor. (The captain from The Titanic, included!) I had never heard of The Responder or Boys from the Blackstuff, but will add them both to my list for future viewing. Here's to the King! 👑
Interesting news on the found Grimm writings and good laugh on "we have Hero Quest at home" Dungeons of Demus.
Thanks Eric! Yes - that Demus game was something else, wasn't it?!
This was a terrific issue! Now I'm going back and reading it AGAIN!
Thanks Carolyn! (I just subscribed to your "An Enchanted Life" newsletter - looks cool!)
Awww, that's sweet of you, thank you!
Thanks for the HT!
Thanks very much for the shout out, J.Q. 👍🏼
