Also a big fan of How to Draw Fantasy ART & RPG Maps by Jared Blando. I have used some of the same maps for my D&D-based world for decades and this is the book that finally got me motivated to sit down and try and rework it.

Nice! I've been keeping that book in my "closest" pile, hoping to do the same as you. It really is well done and extremely approachable.

Oh - and in case you haven't encountered it yet, Inkarnate fantasy map-making software IS THE BOMB!

GURPS was, like, the one system I *didn't* buy and play as a youth 🤣 It was a real trip reading this, it reminded me a lot of... man, my DuckDuckGo-fu is letting me down today, it's not the Endless Quest books, but another CYA-style D&D series. The depth and style is very reminiscent!

I was always attracted to the GURPS ads back in the day because you could do everything: Fantasy, SciFi, Superhero, Spy, ... but never did buy it either. My friends and I were more than tempted on several trips to the gaming store, though.

I think someone mentioned DuckDuckGo-fu on the Rediscovered Realms Facebook page! Was meaning to take a look and see what it was about.

These would be a great bridge between choose your own adventure books and TTRPGS. The artwork looks great and love the replayability. Definitely on the list to try. Great treasure selection for the first contest. The mystery gang shirt is just great.
