This week’s newsletter is a slight departure from my usual ones in a couple aspects.
I’ve been wanting for a while to talk about Fantasy in a more intimate way.
I LOVE having Fantasy-Fun with my weekly show-and-tell articles and interviewing amazing fantasy artists, authors & creators - but there’s been this itch to also talk about what I’m labelling, “Fantasy-Filosophy” - the deeper meanings, candid thoughts, and positive effects of fantasy art, books, magazines, toys and games.
In fact, I had already made the decision to add more sections to Rediscovered Realms that will each focus on 4 different exciting aspects of Fantasy that I’ll reveal very soon in an upcoming email to subscribers.
I’ve also wanted to play around with multimedia FOREVER, accumulating different batches of licensed music, software, sound effects, fonts, and illustrations over the years.
So, in preparation for all of this, I made myself take the plunge and expand into Facebook and YouTube just the other week with the intention of releasing regular videos that will help transfer the boundless enthusiasm I have for Fantasy into different and engaging forms.

I thought it appropriate though to make my very 1st video series with the theme of “What Is Fantasy To Me?” - bite-sized thoughts about the power that Fantasy - Myth, Magic, Maidens & Monsters - can have on Modern-day Mortals.
And what better way to share the 1st in this series than with my stalwart band of companions here at Rediscovered Realms?
You see, I kept holding off - waiting for the “perfect” circumstances -AND- until I could make the new newsletter sections -AND- until I:
could learn
could practice
could get used to the sound of my recorded voice . . .
But something I’ve been trying to incorporate in my life over the past year is the axiom of “Done is better than Perfect”.
So, with non-professional equipment and some YT training videos, I wrangled through the learning curve(s) -AND- challenges -AND- frustrations to actually make something I feel pretty proud of. Something I want to share with you.
It’s only a minute-and-a-half.
It’s not perfect.
It’s not polished.
It may be offensive to some.
Heck, it may not even be legal.
But it has heart . . .
. . . and a TON of awesome fantasy artwork!1
I hope you enjoy it:
Other News from The Realms
D&D United States Post Office Stamps in 2024!
I would have loved a more representative sample from earlier D&D illustrations, but hey - who would ever have suspected that Dungeons & Dragons would become so mainstream as to warrant the USPS to produce stamps!
The Bastion modular and reconfigurable D&D Watchtower coming in 2024
Looks really fun with the different ways you can put it together and expand it with optional accessories.
Lastly, check out this cool Owlbear head plaque I saw mounted in a local book/game store this week! Just had to share.
Thanks for joining Rediscovered Realms on another weekly quest!
I want to ask you though:
What does Fantasy mean to you?
I look forward to the discussion in the comments and in future “Fantasy-Filosophy” articles.
Do you love heroic fantasy gamebooks like me? Consider signing up to be informed when I launch my very 1st one!

Congrats on learning, diving in, and launching your YT channel! I just subscribed.
To me, fantasy is about possibility. If the world was a little more magical, what would people be capable of?
Thanks! I just followed you on FB and I’m going to YT now!
Thank you, I always love fantasy art.
