Ever get to see The NeverEnding Story in the movie theater? Well, now’s your chance!
In honor of its 40th anniversary, Fathom Events is bringing back the magic in a theater near you (in the U.S.) on July 21st and July 22nd only!
This is one of my all-time favorite movies as a kid, hitting on themes of imagination, bullying, order & chaos, the power of books, adventure & discovery and overcoming disempowerment. I recently re-watched it as an adult with my granddaughter which reaffirmed its power and effect in my life, so had to buy tickets to see it in the theater with family.
Speaking of Fathom Events, did you get to see the extended digitally re-mastered editions in theaters in recent weeks? I LOVED experiencing them once more, and apparently many others did too. The films smashed the domestic box office expectations and they “Continue Blazing a Trail”
Because of the success, they even EXPANDED the showtimes a couple more times! (So, you have today (June 24th) to watch Return of the King in it’s 4+ hour re-mastered glory!)
If you haven’t seen this, I HIGHLY recommend the “Jim Henson: Idea Man” documentary on Disney+
Directed by Ron Howard, it’s like an Ode to Imagination. Jim created Sesame Street, The Muppet Show (and movies), Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth . . . I didn’t realize how integral Jim Henson was to my generation’s childhood and how much he informed & influenced my imagination, humor and creativity. I cannot recommend this documentary enough. “Never stop creating.”
Ever wonder “How Fantasy Novels Enhance Creativity and Imagination in Students”? Definitely check out this interesting article by Stuart Conover.
I totally agree that reading these books as a kid provided me long-term benefits in my own personal and professional life.
“Fantasy novels, by their very nature, exist in realms beyond reality and, as such, are a powerful medium for expanding the boundaries of imagination.
They introduce readers to extraordinary worlds, magical creatures, and intricate plotlines that transcend the physical world’s limits.
These elements provoke readers to visualize and comprehend concepts that are outside the realm of their everyday experiences.
By doing so, they stretch the imaginative capacities of readers, encouraging them to envision the impossible.” - Stuart Conover
I normally like to feature several of my fellow fantasy enthusiasts’ Substack newsletters of note here but have fallen woefully behind lately due to changes at work and some family visits. I apologize to my adventuring party companions and promise to catch up soon.
That’s another edition! If you missed the inaugural issue, you can find it here:
I’ve snuck away from my phamily for just long enough to get this Phantasy Snitch edition phinished & pheatured. Now, I’m heading back to enjoy a meal of pheasant and have some phun.
Until next week, Phearless Adventurer, Pharewell!
It’s expensive running a kingdom these days. That’s why occasional support from Generous Adventurers like you helps keep Rediscovered Realms’ moat stocked with monsters and swords sharpened for action.
(Androidicus is worried about his job (again!), so he’s slashing prices - for a limited time, sword+1’s are reduced to only $2/ea!)

I loved the Jim Henson documentary, too. Big Muppets nerd over here. I recently saw a festival of short indie puppet films curated by Heather Henson, which was extraordinary.
Your newsletters are always lengthy, as you say up front, but are also time well spent.
