THE NEWS:
Legendary creator of the beloved 1980s Endless Quest series of books, Rose Estes, is back! “Different: The Quest Continues” is a CYOA/Endless-Quest/Interactive-Fiction book in a whole new world, and you can get in on the action with the “The Quest Continues” Kickstarter!
The Kickstarter tiers include collectible 3-D printed resin figures, full color cover art prints, and signed & personalized copies of Rose’s new book! Make sure to spread the word if you can.
Oh, and by the way, in case the tiers aren’t clear and you’re wanting to get a special signed first edition book, you can choose any tier and add it on!
As many of you know, I had the privilege of not only interviewing Rose Estes a couple years back, but of also spending time with her and her son, Daniel, at last year’s Gary Con. It was one of the best experiences of my life - a time I will always cherish.
Unfortunately, Daniel passed away only a few short months later after bravely battling a resurgence of cancer that he kept private. Daniel was one of the kindest, most vivacious people I had ever met. I only learned of his passing recently, and still haven’t come to terms with it. I am truly sorry for Rose and family.
Here are a few fun & short recording clips I made of Daniel and Rose on the interactive reading panel at Gary Con 2025 for the seminal work, “Return to Brookmere” - the very first Endless Quest book that Rose wrote (even though it was released as book #4 in the series!)
Farewell, Daniel Aragorn Chaim Estes. Thank you for welcoming me in as a fellow adventurer on your journey. May the choices from your Endless Quest echo ever onward with the courage and kindness you demonstrated to all.
“Then a great beauty was revealed in him, so that all who after came there looked on him in wonder; for they saw that the grace of his youth, and the valour of his manhood, and the wisdom and majesty of his age were blended together. And long there he lay, an image of the splendour of the Kings of Men in glory undimmed before the breaking of the world.” - Return of the King, Appendix A
“The Pendragon Cycle: Rise of Merlin” has been garnering some pretty good reviews lately. It’s on the paid version of Dailywire+, but they’re offering a deal with collectible character cards that just may tempt me to subscribe!
Let me know in the comments if anyone has seen this this show yet and what you think.
A new kid-friendly (but safe enough for adults!) line of official D&D toys has just been unveiled - “Dungeons & Dragons Questers”
Coming this summer, "The line will feature three separate types of figures based on D&D lore: Creatures, Adventurers and Monsters. All figures will be blind-packed collectibles and fully buildable, with interchangeable parts that allow kids to mix and match to make their own creations. Each figure will also include a D20 dice and “storystarter” book that encourages them to create their own tales (although it’s not entirely clear what these will look like).”
Here’s a fun article about the evolution of computer RPGs - “Every Significant Innovation In Role-Playing Games”
There are some monumental games listed here from between 1975-2008

BONUS: Fellow Adventurer, Stace Dumoski did a wonderful journaling video called “Create an Encyclopedia of Your Imagination” a while back using this technique in this edition of her Substack, Magic and Ink:
In archaeology-adjacent news, Lost grave of Viking warlord ‘discovered’ on English coast
“A hill on the west Cumbrian coast could be the long-sought burial mound of Ivarr the Boneless, one of the most powerful Viking leaders to have ruled in Britain, an archaeologist has claimed.”

Here’s a fascinating article from The Conversation about how D&D can be good for your health - Whether it’s yoga, rock climbing or Dungeons & Dragons, taking leisure to a high level can be good for your well-being
“What do collecting old editions of Dungeons & Dragons monster manuals, securing the same tailgate spot for over 20 years and mastering yoga postures have in common? They are all forms of “serious leisure.”
These pursuits are different from casual hobbies in several ways. They require participation over longer periods, which makes people who practice them more skilled and more connected with the activity over time. The driving force for casual leisure is having fun; when a participant becomes more focused on accomplishment and improving their skills, the pursuit can gradually become more serious.”
Here’s a really neat late pledge Kickstarter opportunity I just found where you can quickly stamp out your dungeon quicker than ever - “Tabletop Stamps: Dungeons - Create Endless Maps for RPGs”
“From Game of Thrones to The Witcher, House of the Dragon to Rings of Power, fantasy shows have been stuck in a nihilistic rut for years now. Then A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms came along and reminded me what an honest, optimistic story of bravery and heroism can look like. And maybe we need more of that.”

Patrycja Wójcik is inspired by fantasy worlds and Slavic fairy tales. Here’s a short feature about her: “Folk traditions meet bold use of colour in this artist’s fantasy scenes”
News Item
And one more short artist feature by creativebloq.com - Former comics artist channels the legacy of Victorian painters in wondrous fantasy scenes
Julien Delval “takes inspiration from ancient civilisations, mythological worlds and European painting traditions to create epic, narrative-driven compositions that suggest stories beyond the canvas.”
From wargamer.com - “Meet the mom and pop duo bringing Japan’s D&D killer, Sword World to the West”
“Though little known outside its native Japan, Sword World has had a colossal influence on gaming history and fantasy media. In the home market, it surpassed Dungeons & Dragons so completely that it all but erased D&D from Japanese pop culture, and its setting ‘Raxia’ laid the foundations for the Japanese take on Western fantasy you’ll find in modern manga, anime, and videogames. Yet the team producing the first English translation of this cultural behemoth is an unassuming couple from Kansas, Ai Namima-Davison and her husband Shawn - here’s their story.”
Need to escape the real world for a bit? How about Tenessee? No, seriously. Check out “Ancient Lore Village” fantasy-themed resort in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains of Knoxville, TN and bring out your inner Ren-fairian any time of year!
Come on - this place looks awesome!

Ok. I literally laughed out loud when I read the 3 words mentioned in this article: “Lord of the Rings fans have 3 words to say about The Hunt for Gollum film”
What about you? Do you agree with the 3 words or feel otherwise? Make sure to drop it in the comments.
Here are a few entertaining medieval engineering/battle video shorts that I bet you will like too:
I’m not so sure that a medieval knight would always win this battle in all that heavy cumbersome armor - especially against a swarm of Roman Legionnaires, but hey, it still is a fun thought experiment!
That’s a wrap! Until next week, Brave Adventurer!
