Great artwork in this one. Two things, 1. love the Tombstone quote and 2. the possibility of rolling an angry elf on the character sheet makes think of the scene from Elf in there meeting where he calls Dinklage's character an angry elf.
Agreed! I like how the books in this Catacombs series were standalone gamebooks for solo play . . . all in a large format. But of course, the art is my favorite!
Kudos for working in a Tombstone quote! I was able to acquire a copy of Faire Mound last year for $58.88 on eBay. I was surprised how thick it was! The Clyde Caldwell cover alone is worth the price of admission. (Yes, I backed his Kickstarter art book along with 1,227 other art lovers.) I haven’t had a chance to play through it yet, but I loved seeing the black & white interior art by Valerie Valusek. It reminds me of Gary Chalk’s Lone Wolf style a bit. Very expressive, highly detailed, evocative and draws the reader into the adventure! Thanks for the post and all you do for us fantasy lovers! ⚔️
Gosh darned it! I didn't realize Clyde Caldwell had a Kickstarter out there! I've been so busy this past year that I've lost touch with everyone. I just did a late pledge and will be featuring his Kickstarter here in Rediscovered Realms. He's such a cool guy.
Totally agree about his artwork on this CATACOMBS cover - worth the price of admission.
(And I'm happy a couple readers here so far appreciated my Tombstone reference - as I said in another reply, that's one of my favorite movies of all time!) Thanks for all your support, Andy!

hahaha - good call about the angry elf! (Also glad you appreciated the Tombstone reference & quote. One of my favorite movies of all time!)
The art! Mind blowing! 🤯
I LOVE Valerie Valusek's pencil/ink work!
I remember when they used to make modules like that. It was a great time to play.
