J.Q. Your November giveaway is positively nuts! So many things to love and nothing not to. Thank you for spreading some cheer in a relatively cheerless month!
Thanks, Guy! Glad you like the items in our giveaway.
I feel ya. In my part of the world, we've got time change sleep disruptions, it's getting dark way too early, and it's already been snowing (requiring shoveling!) - not to mention all the crazy economic & political stuff. Time to escape to some fantasy destinations with books, games & movies!
I adore the Time-Life Enchanted World Series. I spent years tracking down a complete set, book by book, in used book stores; a little beaten up, but cheap and all mine. :)
And thank you for the link to your older post about Haggard's "The Wanderer's Necklace." Now I'll have to look through your archives for more articles on Golden Age pulp tales and journals. :)
Thank you, Rebecca! I have to share that not having those Enchanted World books throughout most of my life made me feel a bit incomplete. It's comforting to know that they're nearby whenever I'd like to crack one open. They are . . . precious to me . . .
I'm glad you liked "The Wanderer's Necklace" newsletter! There's a bunch of golden-age fantasy pieces I have in the wings to do at some point. Probably the only other closest newsletter (not very close in era but it is now a long time ago!) I've done is from a 1975 fanzine: https://www.rediscoveredrealms.com/p/conan-the-bard-barian
Sebastien DeCastell is one of my favorite authors of late. I am enjoying the Spellslinger series, but his Greatcoat series was one of the four major inspirations for my Against the Clockwork Orthodoxy campaign.
I still have 8 or so of those Time Life books! I was never a subscriber (my parents were too smart to give in to my pleas) but I picked them up from used bookstores and library sales during the 90s. I don’t look at them much now—their most recent use was as a laptop stand during my Covid WFH days! I have to plans to get rid of them though. .
I guess they would make a good laptop stand! I picked up the entire set a year or two ago and will take one out of its pile every once in a while to admire and read a bit.
Thanks, Landen - try it now. (I've noticed Microsoft will re-report news and wrap the original publisher's link with their own, which sounds like it may cause issues. I just replaced it with the original Mental Floss link)
Thanks for the feedback & encouragement - Have a great day!
Thanks for fixing the link and for the article find! That's absolutely incredible. I loved Dracula. Check out Stoker's great grand nephew's sequel, "Dracula-The Undead"! Dang it. I need to slip these two books to the top of my need-to-read list, now. Sigh. When will I sleep?
Just so u know the tunes were awesome. And I'm a big fan of MJ and thriller was a game changer in so many ways. Super fan here 😀. Anyway, again, awesome articles I look forward to the next email. Thank you!

Awesome!!!
Thanks Joseph!
Thanks for yet another shout-out, J.Q.! :D
🤘
Loved the back catalog review. Definitely digging into the monster bestiary articles.
Be careful, Eric, not to dig to deep and awaken something that should remain asleep.

No way! Alright - adding both those series to my list now . . .

(psst...The Bram Stoker link is broken)
A fun read as always. That's the key word for what you produce: fun. I look forward to seeing the substack notification!

Landen, there will be time to sleep when you're (un)dead . . .

Thank you so much, Margaret! I'm "thrillered" you liked this edition. 😁
