If you haven’t already heard, Rediscovered Realms is celebrating reaching 1,000 subscribers by doing monthly giveaway contests for the rest of the year! Stay tuned to find out if you won last month’s Epic Tolkien Giveaway Contest and see how you can win this month’s Legendary Dungeons & Dragons Giveaway Contest.
Why am I doing this?
I started Rediscovered Realms to celebrate Imagination, Adventure, Discovery, Beauty, Wonder, Humor, and Fun.
And let’s just face it, life can sometimes blow. We all need an escape from time to time.
Escaping into Fantasy has always been one the ways I have re-centered, decompressed and recaptured joy throughout my life - and since you’re here, you probably feel the same.
Your continuing support is proof that Fantasy is a powerful force in people’s lives.
Thank you sincerely for sharing your love of fantasy by being a part of my adventuring party.
Before we get to this month’s Legendary D&D Giveaway Contest, let’s find out who won last month’s Epic Tolkien Giveaway Contest.

And the winner is . . .
. . . 🥁
Jeff Bohlin!
Congratulations, Jeff. I’ve also emailed you and you have 7 days to claim your winnings. If you don’t, there is a Goblin assassin (our usual Goblin thief wasn’t available) who has been contracted to take back your letter of winnings.
In the event I don’t hear from you, or the Goblin Assassin mistakes you for another mark, I have a runner up already selected.
For the rest of my fellow adventurers, if you didn’t win the grand prize, there’s a chance you may still win if it goes unclaimed.
AND . . .
When I was building this month’s giveaway, I found hidden in one of my treasure chests some extra brand-new boxed sets of the same books in the Tolkien giveaway contest that I will be throwing into the mix in coming months!
When I was a kid, I loved all things Fantasy - books, board games, video games, artwork, movies, TV shows, toys, and magazines.
I put all that away to be “responsible” and because of the well-meaning but misguided interdictions of my chosen religious group (a tale for another time!)
So, rediscovering these realms of fantasy & imagination was not just about nostalgia or escaping or recapturing and sharing the lost fun of childhood - it was a massive step forward in shaking off the shackles I allowed to be imposed on me.
This journey has awakened me and continues to fulfill me.
I was hoping to attract others who felt similarly.
Others whose hearts ache for days after reading a particularly good fantasy book because the characters you got to know and care about are now missing out of your life.
Others who experienced the joy of camaraderie and carefreeness in a shared board game or RPG game session with friends and family of long ago.
Others who have looked at a piece of fantasy artwork and were instantaneously elevated & inspired by its beauty, magic and magnificence, or just the plain coolness or sexiness of it.
Others who may have had to squash or hide their passion for these things for years or decades because it wasn’t “cool” or so you could be accepted by the people in your life and society.
For all you “Others” that resonate with these feelings, as well as those who just want to have fun seeing cool fantasy stuff and learning about badass fantasy creators, Rediscovered Realms opens its gates to you.
I really do feel that Imagination is one of the keys to a life well-lived and we just don’t give it the importance it’s due in our modern culture.
It’s something we often take for granted or put away with other “childish” things.
I realize now that it was never really “childish”, but instead, “child-like” which is nothing to be ashamed of or hidden.
We don’t have to agree on everything I just went on about, but I bet since you’ve read this far, we agree on some of those things - or you just are trying to get to the part about this month’s giveaway contest!
Let’s see if we agree on the items in this month’s celebration.
I hand-selected these particular items for this month’s Legendary Dungeons & Dragons Giveaway Contest - a D&D theme since I write about it so often (and it’s their 50th anniversary!):
Dungeons & Dragons lunchbox (with thermos!) (brand new, in plastic). Be the envy of your officemates or on that construction site when you pull out your corner-to-corner cut PB&J and celery sticks out of this baby!
Dungeons & Dragons 2024 Creatures, Beasts, and Monsters daily calendar (brand new). Your prescription: Take just 1 monster a day and call me in the morning.
Dungeons & Dragons Stickerology book (brand new). Believe me when I tell you these stickers are REALLY cool!
Endless Quest book #2 - Mountain of Mirrors (used - good). One of my gateways to fantasy was this book, a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.
Endless Quest book #3 - Pillars of Pentegarn (used - fair). Brings me back to the Scholastic Bookmobile riding into town during elementary school and wanting every single fantasy book in their catalog.
Dragon Magazine #71 - Cover by Clyde Caldwell! (used - very good). One of my favorite pieces by Clyde.
Dragon Magazine #76 - Cover by Clyde Caldwell! (used - good). Another of my favorite Clyde paintings!
Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Adventure Gamebook #4 - The Soulforge DragonLance Adventure (used - good). Ever heard of Raistlin or Caramon? No? Then you won’t like this gamebook.
Dungeons & Dragons Icons of the Realms painted miniatures - Dragons of Stormwreck Isle (new). D&D Saturday Morning Cartoon miniatures anyone?
Total Value: $250 - 1 Grand prize winner will be selected.
