Oh man. Memory trip. In elementary, we had library days once a week. The teacher would march us past the stacks and shelves to the reading nook where the librarian would read something neither I nor my friends would pay attention to. Most of us boys were instead staring past the librarian to the magazine stack where the latest Nintendo Power magazines were beckoning. She knew. She'd finish her story, pause for effect, then release us krakens who would library-powerwalk to the stacks to grab the magazines and check them out for the week. After school, we'd make our way to the basement rental store on main street whose merchants not only knew me on a first name basis but also my parents whom they'd routinely call begging then to send me back with their very overdue SNES games. I had the SNES, Nathan had the Sega Genesis, Tyler had the Neo Geo. Summers were for biking the river valley. Winters were for gaming. And with our three consoles, we played everything.

I recognize so many of these paintings! 😂

Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

💪 Those are some great memories, Landen! Thank you for sharing them with our fellow adventurers. Sounds like you, Nathan, and Tyler had some glorious winters (and summers!)

Such a walk down memory lane, scrolling through and recognising the games and books that were (and still are) on my shelves growing up!

What a great testament to the power of fantasy in our lives, Richard, that you retained some of these magical artifacts all these years. Keep the Adventure Going Strong!

Wow what a fantastic article! Such a trip down memory lane with the movie posters, video game boxes and book covers! I forgot how much I loved the Trancers movies!!! Time to rewatch all of them now! Lee’s fantasy art is probably my favorite but his current art is fantastic too! The landscaped and horses, Wow!!!!

So glad you resonated with this, Robin! I love re-watching old "B" movies - it's one of my favorite pastimes. (Sounds like you're like me, so you'll enjoy seeing Trancers again!) I'm with you about preferring Lee's fantasy art, however I really do like the fine art pieces I selected for this article and would be proud to hang them on my wall!

Wonderful interview. It was incredible to see how wide of range Lee has in his art styles and happy to hear he's really enjoying his current work. The interview also really highlighted how much his work accounted for the pop culture I grew up on.

Thanks Eric! I agree - it was surprising to recognize his hand in so much of the pop culture of my childhood- movie posters, VHS covers, game box art, book covers . . . I mean, his Batman movie poster logo alone is so iconic and ingrained in my brain, every time I see it I instantly hear the music and remember the excitement of that original movie (and Jack's quote: “Have You Ever Danced With The Devil In The Pale Moonlight?”)!!!

That was a great interview J.Q.👍🏼

A lot of wonderful artwork here but also great to see some of these old movie posters. Metalstorm is a particularly memorable blast from the past. This also serves as a reminder that I really need to read the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher as they have been on my TBR list for far too long!

Thanks Dan - I've got the same takeaways as you! Metalstorm shall be watched soon. BTW, I know Dresden Files gets most of Butcher's glory, however, his Codex Alera series is probably one of the best fantasy series I have ever read in my life.
