City-State of the Invincible Overlord was a highly influential piece of work. When AEG hired me to co-write and co-develop The World’s Largest City setting book, John Zinser told me that it was a major influence on what he wanted us to come up with. I’m not quite sure that’s quite what we gave him, but I have long felt that, given a freer rein I could one-up it with a city-state setting of my own.
Those color maps are absolutely gorgeous! I eyed these boxes in my local game store many times, but never pulled the trigger (I was especially drawn to that triple dragon head logo). I was definitely a TSR purist as a kid :)
Right on, David. I picked this box up from a discount bin in the early '90s and thought it was a knock-off D&D product. I didn't know that it was its own thing and deserved some respect!

That's really cool, Douglas. Would love to see it!
Maybe time for you to revisit your idea via Kickstater?
It’s always on the to-do list, and it will definitely show up on Kickstarter.

I loved the wide open supplements and various games from the 80s, Judges Guild and Mayfair were amongst my favorites.
I remember seeing way more Mayfair than Judges Guild when I started to take the scene seriously. Now I really like them both.
