Join Rediscovered Realms on a visual journey through the Fighting Fantasy coloring books—forgotten treasures from Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone. Step into a world where classic monsters, daring heroes, and epic quests leap from the page in bold black-and-white illustrations, just waiting for a splash of color. Relive the magic of old-school gamebooks and rediscover the art of adventure!
Another interesting find. I'm surprised how many colouring books were out there. These were probably easy to produce as they just repurposed the art from the books. I mean, if you wanted to, you could just colour the pages in the original gamebooks.
That said, FF had decent art (miles above the Lone Wolf art, IMO), I think that minotaur is particularly cool.
Agreed! With some of these properties, the coloring books came during the not-to-distant adult coloring book phase, and not anywhere near the original books' publications. Makes sense to hop on a trend if you still have IP in the game.
Never considered coloring in the original books - I guess you could! A couple years ago I picked up some AD&D Players and DMs books where the previous owner had used colored pencils on the some of the black & white illos. Though I would never do it in my originals, I have to say that they actually look pretty darn cool!
We are long overdue for a live adaptation of Diablo. Maybe best served as a series rather than a movie. Especially when the Prime Evils keep coming back...
How did I miss those coloring books??? And I’m so tempted to get the Dice Men. I love reading the history of games and the companies, the good and the bad. 😊😊
LOL - I think they were pretty much UK-released when they first came out. I'm with you. I love reading about game history. Both of those books (Dice Men and Magic Realms) are beefy and big - nice large format quality.
I held off buying the 40th anniversary edition of Dragonlance as it, annoyingly, only appears to be paperback here in the UK, but there also doesn’t appear to be any plans to bring out the hardback 🙄
I might be travelling to Boston in April so a trip to Barnes and Noble might be my first stop to get a copy!

Ooh, I used to love the old Diablo computer games (I played on PC). The storyline was top-notch even way back then in the late 90s.
Excellent post! I had no idea they did these back then during the Adult Coloring Book fad. I may have to look these up!
Thanks, Scott! Are you a colorer? I keep intending to become one, but just haven't committed to the time . . . yet!
The closest I get these days is painting miniatures. But with the SlapChop method that’s almost the same.

And half off too! I’ve read a lot about the history of DND. Pretty fascinating and sometimes insane stuff! lol

Oh wow. I didn't realize they didn't have the hardback in the UK - how strange! Good plan for Boston. First, Dragonlance, Second, lobster rolls!
