I recall reading and enjoying "The Dragon and the George" back when it came out. I wish I still had my copy with the Vallejo cover. I haven't read "Oron" and need to track down a copy if it.

The Caldwell illustrations inside of Oron are pretty darn awesome. BTW - I owe you your winnings. Reach out to me in email so I can arrange getting them to you!

The dragon one sounds like an Isekai anime and I would totally watch it. Wonder if I can find the book?

Ooh, interesting interpretation, K.M.! It looks like there are multiple copies on eBay. I found mine at a used bookstore. Let us know if you wind up getting one!

They say not to judge a book by its cover, but these were the books I gravitated to as a young dude. Still reading them as an old dude!

Oh wow - funny I never came across these as a kid. Sounds like a lot of people liked them. You're right Jim, it was probably the covers!

Right on! Did you watch that Rankin/Bass movie that was based on it? I don't think I ever did.

Also, those early Caldwell pencil illustrations in Oron were a really unexpected surprise for me!

Great idea this week and can't wait to see which choice wins. There's just something special about the covers of older fantasy novels.

Thanks, Eric! As you know, I'm a sucker for a good fantasy cover, so whenever I come across any in used bookstores, they tend to make their way into my bookshelves (and onto my book piles!) Although there's some utility in eBooks, having physical books just feels more right. 📖
